If this were a grizzly bear, he would be plump and ready to take on the challenges of winter denning with a nice layer of fat. Since he is a polar bear, though, this is likely not the case. Unlike other bears, only female polar bears hibernate, sealing themselves up in their winter dens to give birth to their cubs.
